i gave a hu9000 tv and have had the sek-3500 but have always been afraid to use it to upgrade because i have heard some reviews that stated you will lose your 3d technolog??? i purchased this tv specifically for the 3d i really want to use the sek 3500 but i want to be sure i will not lose my 3d feature. is there anyone who has used the 3500 to there hu9000 and if they have did you lose your 3d technology i really don't care about the 4k or netflix app. also if i use the 3500 to upgrade is it reversible. thank you

I paid nearly $3500 for my 8500 plasma a few years ago and was told I could upgrade my tv. I tried for a few years and no evolution kit was available. Now they want to charge me $400 complete garbage and now the new 2018 model has to be plugged into the old box. So, I will spend nearly $700 just to get some apps!! really this is crazy stupid!!! Just send every Samsung Plasma owner a roku ultra box or a firetv cube and $200 gift card to Samsung and call it a day.

I have ordered by paying extra for shipment. Received defective product and support is no use. Had to return and now worried of ordering. As I am stuck with dumb 65'' TV (just two years old and current oneconnect failed within 2 years), not sure what to do. Horrible product and horrible service.

The upgrade to the newer evolution kit was a great decision, The ease of connection and instant enhancements in picture was immediately noticeable.....it brought NEW LIFE....to even my old tv favourites from the 60s and 70s A distinctive improvement....I was noticing many details ....never before seen with old tv standards.....VERY VERY HAPPY with this purchase.

I purchased my HU8500 Series UHD TV before the release of the UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player, I was happy with the TV, but after I received the Samsung 4K player I was disappointed that the TV would not display HDR.
Thankfully Samsung did not leave us early adopters in the dark and came out with SEK3500U One Connect Evolution Kit that allowed the new format HDR to display correctly.
With a recent update via internet there was a substantial improvement in picture quality.
So if you have an early UHD TV model this unit is a must if you want your TV to display HDR in 4K.

Received my SEK3500 earlier in the day, followed the steps. When I was instructed to power up the tv, I saw an inverted picture. Contacted the number on the packing slip got an opportunity to speak to 2 techs as well as a supervisor. At the end they concluded that I have a defective unit. Along the way I was provide some very interesting solutions-made I should flip the cables(rotate the way they attach from connect box to TV). I'm actually surprised that they did not suggest that I should maybe flip the tv.
The fun starts when I requested return labels, needed to call another number. Spoke to a front line worker as well as a supervisor. Turns out I can't receive the labels because the return department is overwhelmed by returns for their phones. I was instructed to wait for the phone call from someone from the return department! I was told that things can move more quickly if I requested return labels online.
I just got off from chatting online and to my surprise they to can't send the labels since Samsung has a 30 day wait policy prior to sending out return labels.
So the bottom line is if your unit works then all is well if it doesn't then you will be looking at a box for a month before you can send it back.
Already initiated a dispute with my credit card company!

I liked the way my television was without all the changes. One thing I do wish is that everything was still the same like the camera sensor or the original things that it came with. It's harder to configure movement for hand gestures than before. Just not pleased and not worth the $$

I updated my 2500 to this one to get a better picture. it really does have a better picture overall. but i tried UHD Movies but its not playing the sound i am not sure why!! In some movies i see a very thin line in the middle of the screen not very noticeable but i can still see. i used to get options to change the movie audio track but i don't see it anymore. Not sure which framewire i am running but its setup on auto update. remote control feels very cheap.

I was a little weary of the new connect box if it would easy to connect to my TV since I have the first gen 4k TV from Samsung. To my delight the set up was fast and it worked as soon as I popped in the a 4k movie in my new Samsung 4k player. Don't hesitate on this one!

Although the picture is awesome and improved over my 2500 evolution kit, it was a struggle. When I finally received my SEK-3500U I was so happy after a long wait. Problem, trouble with Netflix and Amazon. After many hours on the phone with Samsung with no solution, I decided to return it. Re-ordered it and can see a better picture and receive Netflix, although Amazon is still not right, but with a little work I can view it, I guess you just have to be lucky you get a good one. Still worth getting, just be cool and calm and enjoy when it all works well.

I have the HU9000 series and as soon as I upgraded from the 2500....A BIG DIFFERENCE IN PICTURE QUALITY! :) Recently there was a problem with the Netflix app and Smart Hub app but BOTH HAS BEEN FIXED AND IT'S WORKING BEAUTIFULLY! 4K UHD CONTENT LOOKS EVEN MORE STUNNING. I HAVEN'T WATCHED ANY HDR CONTENT YET BUT I'M SURE THAT'S GONNA LOOK AWESOME TOO. I HIGHYLY RECOMMEND THE UPGRADE!

So right now if you have an HU model TV don't bother buying this. Many users across the country are having issues where there Smart hub will get in an application install loop, not allowing the to install any applications through there smart hub. On top of that Netflix isn't working for even more people when using the SEK-3500. Samsung has known about the update loop issue for over two months, and the netflix issue for a month. Neither of theses issues have been resolved; look at the forum post under TV "Smart Hub Not letting me install apps because "Smart Hub is Upgrading" if you want to verify that this is widespread issue. The upgrade kit is a wonderful enhancement to our 65 inch TV. We saw a marked improvement in picture quality and brightness. We have an extensive collection of movies, and with the SEK3500U, we are seeing details that we have not seen before. I particularly love the YouTube 4K. Some of the videos are absolutely beautiful. It may cost a lot to some, but I believe it is worth it. It is less expensive than buying a whole new TV.

Connected Evo Kit to my 2013 UN65F9000. Major all-around upgrade in overall picture quality! DirecTV and Blu-Ray discs are now near 4K quality. New YouTube 4K app is awesome! Only downside: the new Evo Kit is not compatible with DirecTV 4K programming via DirecTV RVU Server input. DirecTV Genie issues error message, claiming "Your TV is not 4K ready." The DVR's 4K programming displayed brilliantly via last year's SEK-2500U Evo Kit. This was only discovered flaw with the 2015 vs. 2014 Evo Kit. Hoping a future software upgrade will correct this incompatibility error.

I have the 75 UHD 8550 tv I liked it but the Direct TV RVU was slow. So i got the sek3500 and now the RVU is alot faster in the guide. it would take like 5 seconds to scroll down and now its fast. i think the picture is better on the tv . I would recomend buying it

Works great had a little problem with my Logitech remote wont let me switch to HDMI 4 but to all others 123 worked to switch too so changed my input to 3. You need to do two updates one for the app firmware and one for the tv and afterwards it works great. make sure you back up the prior box first and unplug the unit after back up.

I bought my 55 inch 9000F UHD TV in 2013, and I cannot say anything negative about it, but just had this feeling, I was not getting the most out of it. I noticed the 3500 Evolution Kit on Samsung site, and really pondered on while I should pay 300 dollars for a Kit, that might not improve my present situation, but I said, " Why Not "
I installed it, which was as simple as pie, and then watched my screen as the Evolution Kit installed new software, firmware, and reconfigured my 2013 model.
I turned the tv on after this, and was blown out of the water with my new truly UHD picture. It was unbelievable what this box did, as I have a brand new tv, and I am not kidding around. If you have the 9000F series put on market in December of 2013, I would highly recommend this Kit.

I own a 2013 Smart tv with its original One Connect box.
I skipped the 2500 Evolution Kit and waited for the 3500 to come out assuming it would be a huge improvement over the original One Connect.
I couldn't be so wrong.
Like most people I upgraded to get 4k and hoping bugs would be fixed since the old model was not getting any new upgrades
Netflix Ultra HD 4k (after you upgrade your subscription) is now available (4k shows are labelled as such). Tried a few shows, but really the quality difference from their HD version is non noticeable. That seems to be the consensus of other reviews, see CNET article from February 2015 "4K content guide: What to watch in 4K today"
Amazon Video App does NOT WORK. It launches, goes through a few loading screen and then gives an error to check your network. (which is fine... Netflix works!)
HBO GO is GONE! after some research, HBO app is only available on models up to 2104. I guess using the kit makes it a 2105 model TV
Otherwise the new HUB is actually nice and snappier, more responsive. I like the ability to pin apps and show your recently used.
I don't use the other smart tv command, so I can't tell if there are improvements there.
The conclusion, if you use HBO GO, or Amazon Video, DON'T BUY!
